Resumo:  The importance of the water in the current geo-political context turns it into a research theme that focuses on conserving its quality and improving its use conditions in certain systems. The hidrologic cycle consists of water exchanges among rivers, lakes, and oceans, as well as atmosphere and soil. The species of the gender eucalyptus possess a very fast growth rate in relation to native species, what causes a large demand for water, even though their water use efficiency is better. As well as any vegetable species, the eucalyptus uses water to satisfy their physiologic demands, promoting its growth. As a result eucalyptus promotes reduction in the flow of water in watercourses. Areas covered with forest plantations, besides improving the landscape as a whole, promote the reduction of soil erosion, and reduce lumber pressure on native species.
